Before Marriage: Value Yourself

It often starts as early as elementary school. Girls giggle on the playground as boys chase them. Boys try crazy antics to get girls to notice them. Whispers of, “He likes you,” or “She thinks you’re cute” may eventually arise. By junior high, the insecurities of puberty can make both boys and girls want to take cover and hide or do something/anything to get noticed with both types of personalities just hoping that someone from the opposite sex will affirm their worth, find them attractive, or pay them some attention, even when they don’t feel themselves to be very lovable.

Often, these feelings carry in to high school or longer, and if not addressed, the dates that may result can become tools to gain acceptance, self-worth, appreciation, or proof of value rather than stepping stones to evaluating the person for character-traits that may make one worthy of becoming one’s husband or wife.

Marriage is not something to be entered into lightly. When dating happens carelessly and for the wrong reasons, it can often lead to commitment with a partner who is not of a caliber fit for life-long love.

We all know of people who are on their second or third marriages because of what can be traced back to poor decision making to begin with as far as mate selection goes.  When people allow themselves to go out with someone  out of insecurity, just to have a relationship, just to have sex, or just for a good time, they are failing to recognize that they deserve more, that they are worth more.

Before Marriage: Value Yourself , and select a worthy mate.
